While you are away, thieves can simply steal the credit card application from your mailbox, or even take it out of the trash bin. There are some things you can do about it. First – address the credit card companies directly or indirectly and ask them to stop sending you application. Second – check your mail as soon as you can. Third – destroy these credit card applications – shred or burn them.

• Find reliable websites. There are some hostile websites that want to steal your personal information hiding behind the mask of reliability and honesty. There is one rule you have to keep to – never ever apply for credit cards using some uncertain and illegal websites.

• Review your statement. It is sometimes regarded as the last resort in avoiding credit card fraud. You can look at your account statement very carefully every time you hold it in your hands, and if you notice something unusual, immediately report it to the bank, and it will be checked as soon as possible. Actually, every time you make a payment it is very necessary to check whether everything is alright, as if you don’t do it regularly, you have all the chances of becoming a victim of identity theft.
